Youth Recording Academy 2019 Is Here

The NAACP Springfield, in conjunction with Centre City Studio and music producer Chad Wilson have established  a Recording and Media Academy.  Mr. Wilson is planning to invite just seven (7) students to enroll in the academy.  These 7 students will be given the opportunity to learn various skills in audio and video production at a professional studio in the heart of Springfield.  

 

Students will work with the best equipment and talent to become the next generation’s producers.  They will meet various guest instructors and artists that will share different perspectives on issues concerning violence and drugs, as well as music and media.  They will learn with actual skills to produce albums, podcasts and much more!  Each student will be assigned a follow-up mentor.

 

Only Selectees from the Springfield City Schools system in either middle school or high school will be considered.  Each will go through a short interview process, after completing the online application below, with staff members of Springfield NAACP and Centre City Studio.

Deadline to submit this application is 12:00am EST on March 10, 2019.

Personal Essays: You must submit two well written short essays addressing each of these two issues...

1) Explain your interest in Recording and/or Media.

    And

2) Talk about knowing someone that has been affected by drugs or alcohol or violence.

Please submit a letter of reference from a teacher at your school. Be sure they provide their name and phone number and/or email.
